چکیده
COMMENTARY Correction for “Mitochondrial metabolism is regulated by thioredoxin,” by Ian Max Møller, which appeared in issue 11, March 17, 2015, of Proc Natl Acad Sci USA (112:3180–3181; first published March 9, 2015; 10.1073/pnas.1502425112). The authors note that on page 3181, left column, second full paragraph, line 14, “thioredoxin reductase using NADPH” should instead appear as “ferredoxin-thioredoxin reductase using photoreduced ferredoxin”; that in the same paragraph, line 15, “NADPH” should instead appear as “ferredoxin”; that in the same paragraph, line 25, “NADPH” should instead appear as “ferredoxin”; and that in the following paragraph, lines 1–2, “Plant mitochondria are known to contain the thioredoxin system” should instead appear as “Plant mitochondria are known to contain the thioredoxin system (here reduced by NADPH).”

Thioredoxin Reductase 2 (Txnrd2) Regulates Mitochondrial Integrity in the Progression of Age-Related Heart Failure
A ging is a multifactorial process that is characterized by the accumulation of damaged cellular components and that leads progressively to deterioration of biological functions. Recently, increased cellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and decreased removal of oxidized proteins have been implicated in the aging process. During aging, ROS generation is amplified, leading to the a...

متن کاملChronic ethanol consumption induces mitochondrial protein acetylation and oxidative stress in the kidney
In this study, we present the novel findings that chronic ethanol consumption induces mitochondrial protein hyperacetylation in the kidney and correlates with significantly increased renal oxidative stress. A major proteomic footprint of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is an increase in hepatic mitochondrial protein acetylation. Protein hyperacetylation has been shown to alter enzymatic function ...
متن کاملDisabling Mitochondrial Peroxide Metabolism via Combinatorial Targeting of Peroxiredoxin 3 as an Effective Therapeutic Approach for Malignant Mesothelioma
Dysregulation of signaling pathways and energy metabolism in cancer cells enhances production of mitochondrial hydrogen peroxide that supports tumorigenesis through multiple mechanisms. To counteract the adverse effects of mitochondrial peroxide many solid tumor types up-regulate the mitochondrial thioredoxin reductase 2--thioredoxin 2 (TRX2)--peroxiredoxin 3 (PRX3) antioxidant network. Using m...
متن کاملPlatyhelminth mitochondrial and cytosolic redox homeostasis is controlled by a single thioredoxin glutathione reductase and dependent on selenium and glutathione.
Platyhelminth parasites are a major health problem in developing countries. In contrast to their mammalian hosts, platyhelminth thiol-disulfide redox homeostasis relies on linked thioredoxin-glutathione systems, which are fully dependent on thioredoxin-glutathione reductase (TGR), a promising drug target. TGR is a homodimeric enzyme comprising a glutaredoxin domain and thioredoxin reductase (TR...
